Fancy Hijab... or Paradox... !

Yesterday, I came across the term "Fancy Hijab" while I was visiting a market for some shopping with a friend. He read out this phrase loudly and said "What is so fancy about Hijaab?".

Now I didn't understand what does the word 'fancy' (attractive,  decorative or ornamented) has to do with Hijab! which means covered, modest... As far as I know, purpose of Hijab is to become unnoticable and not to become conspicuous.  It is the symbol of modesty and chastity and not of fashion. It is used by a women to please the God the Almighty and not the people at large!

While this term 'Fancy Hijab' implies the meaning which are opposite of the true meaning of Hijab. Isn't it a paradox!

How smart we are that we have designed a term to advance our business, to promote consumerism, to exploit gulible masses, to endanger their faith, to cover up our whimsical desires, to look like a bit liberal at the cost of God's will... But doesn't God know what is deep inside our hearts? Itsn't is like trading religion for temporal life?

This all is tantamount to ridiculing God's injunction and hence provoking His fury.

If a woman wants to be conspicuous/prominent then why smear this symbol of modesty! Why not just use some other fancy dress.

It seems like deluding the God, the Omniscient, the Almighty but in-fact it is a self-deception and nothing more that that.!

Remembering the words of the Second pious Caliph Hazrat Umar (R.A) in which unveiled the 'hypocrite' people and their behaviour. He said, "You don't need to be worried of harm from two type of people; First is Momin (true follower/believer) and second is Kafir (infidel); I am worried for you by that hypocrite person who uses religion/belief to fullfil his evil deeds/whims."

Some days ago I was reading an article in Dawn in which the writer rebuked similar type of hypocrite behaviours of our people living abroad. A phrase from his article which I had known and believed since time unknown :P is... "What Razi and thousands of others do in America is not a simple compromise. They modify their faith to suit their needs."; and its hell true even in Pakistan, we have modified our faith to suit our needs!!

For those who thought it is the necessity of time and blah blah blah... I suspect if you believe that God is omniscient and He has the knowledge of all the times to come and when He created the mankind He knew everything at that very time because if you belive this all then no other logic is needed at all to convince you as these are His injunctions and not of some random human.

Just a clarification that this piece of writing does not mean that boys/male are absolved and all onus lies with women, God has directed the men to lower their gaze in first part of that verse and then to women! But this piece is just to point out what is happening in our society aur Wo bhi... "in the name of God" !!
